Equating Mocha Madness

It seems all too often that coffee is affiliated with a peaceful and relaxing ambiance. This weekend I stood on the exact opposite of this conviction. On Friday and Saturday nights, The Equator (located in Old Town Pasadena) is buzzing with live music, jovial crowds, and of course...espresso. We all know how caffeine affects the human body. It is a stimulant that is capable of enhancing our mental intelligibility. This description may affect some in the form of an anxious feeling and an uncontrollable movement of the leg. What better place to drink java, where this embarrassing movement can easily be shaken off with dancing and socializing?

Aside from brewing an intense, mouthwatering mocha, The Equator offers an artistic yet comfy atmosphere. Colorful furniture, a nonchalant barista staff, and extra activities call for more than just your typical café. All coffee drinks are prepared on the futuristic Conti espresso machine. As I approached the counter, its chrome panels caught my eye and it was as if I heard a biblical hymn being sung by an angel in the distance. I have come to appreciate the beauty and power that the Conti presents to its consumers. I was reassured of my beliefs when I witnessed the golden crema flow into my mug. Instead of ordering a hazelnut chocolate biscotti, I decided to have the live band as my appetizer!

One needs not travel far to find their coffee haven. As we differ from one another, so do cafés. I encourage all to be brave and venture out into the java world and find an espresso bar that suits their current mood.
